James Hird played for the Essendon Football Club from 1992–2007, wearing No. 5 and captaining the club from 1998–2005. Across 253 games, he won the 1996 Brownlow Medal, five Crichton Medals (club best and fairest), and was a key part of the 2000 premiership team. He was also named All-Australian five times and is regarded as one of Essendon’s greatest players.
