A SERENE MORNING GLOW
Cobram/Barooga Golf Course, Old Course Hole 3, NSW Australia
1998 Oil on stretched canvas 48" x 36" by Kenneth S Hunt
Cobram/Barooga Golf Course is a magnificent 36 hole golf course situated along the Murray River in NSW, this is a beautiful part of Australia and this golf course is a perfect example of that. Back in the mid to late 1990’s the time club was advertising that this course was a masterpiece, it certainly looked good so it decided to create a real masterpiece of their course.
I contacted the club President at the time, Wayne Lucas, who was enthusiastic and extremely helpful when I told him what I wanted to do. Wayne sent me numerous photos and detailed information on the course and offered me a complimentary game for two complete with a golf cart so I could experience the course for myself.
I travelled to Cobram with my bother in-law Mick and we met Wayne who gave us a guided tour of the course including some of the holes that might be of interest. Afterwards we enjoyed an afternoon playing golf and taking in the magnificent scenery, I can’t remember if I won or lost the game, but I was left with a lasting impression of a breathtaking golf course.
Wayne’s infectious love for his course and his unfaltering hospitality helped me enormously and I just could not wait to start this painting.
The painting was a major undertaking, completed in around six months but in the end, it was well worth the effort. I had created a masterpiece of Wayne’s Cobram-Barooga Golf Course.
This part of Australia is a must to visit, with plentiful water supplies that the Murray River allows and magnificent old gum trees it is the idea setting for a golf course or two and Cobram/Barooga is a magnificent example, well worth the visit.
Original painting is for sale.
